R.O.M.E.O. Group:
   (Retired Old Men Eating Out)

Purpose:

Each month the women of Sunflower have a Ladies Luncheon at a very nice restaurant.  In November 2001, The R.O.M.E.O. Group was formed to allow the men of Sunflower to get out of the house and have lunch on the same day instead of staying home eating a bologna sandwich.  (Is luncheon female and lunch male?)  In addition to getting out of the house, the men of Sunflower have an opportunity to meet other men in our community and to enjoy good food and good conversation.  They might find someone with similar interests and/or backgrounds and, in fact, some good friendships have developed.

Membership Requirements/Dues:

The R.O.M.E.O.'s haves no height,  weight or age requirements, and best of all, there are no dues.  We tried to install annual dues of 50 cents per person to keep the riff raft out, but the riff raft voted it down.  We do not have members, per se, rather we have attendees.

Meeting Times/Locations:

The R.O.M.E.O. lunches are on the same day as the Ladies Luncheon, usually the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month.  We try to coordinate with the Ladies as best as we can.  The day and date of the net lunch is usually announced at the current lunch and an article appears in the Sun Catcher as well.  We carpool from the Village Center to the location.  We ask anyone wishing to attend register with one of the Receptionist Village Center no later than noon on the day prior to the lunch so that an accurate count may be given to the restaurant.  We only go to restaurants that will give us separate checks and ones that have spirits stronger than soda water available for those who want alcohol with their lunch.

You gotta be kidding!  We don't keep minutes either.
