NOVEMBER 2008 Special Events

 

 Chili Cook Off and Tasting The date is Saturday, November 8, the time is noon - get ready to taste some fantastic chili prepared by our very own resident chefs. The cooks will be competing for prizes in several categories so you know that the selections will be delicious. Tickets will be sold at the door: 3/$1.00 (each ticket gets you a 6 oz. taste of chili). Don’t miss this!

 Arts and Crafts Fair: This is our exciting annual event that shows off the many talents of our Sunflower residents. Get a head start on your holiday shopping as you browse tables of jewelry, crafts, art, knitted and sewn treasures and all types of other handicrafts. There will also be food sold on the patio by the Activity Committee and a bake sale to benefit the Fitness Club. On Saturday, the Marana C of C will present its Merchant Fair. See you on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 from 9 am – 4 pm.

 First Annual Putting/Chipping Tournament: Saturday, November 1 at 9 a.m. Lessons, prizes, contests, a whole lot of fun! Come see our newly refinished putting green and join your friends and neighbors. You don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy the fun!

 November Potluck: This month we’ll have a special dinner: meatloaf prepared by Chef Tom and his wonderful assistant Virginia. Price is only $3.00 and the date is unusual: Thursday, November 6. Check at the front desk for tickets; this event always sells out quickly.

 General Managers’ Square Table Discussion: It used to be called the “Roundtable” but the managers have updated the title. This month, there will be a guest speaker Kim Rubly from the Community Association Institute. She will speak about the role of the Board of Directors among other topics. Be sure to attend: Thursday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m.

 Board Meeting:  Tuesday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m. Mark your calendars to meet the newly elected Board members. Board Study Session will be held Monday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m.  Dates subject to change.

 DANCE DAZZLE: What is it? Come to the Village Center on Wednesdays at 5:00 to find out! Runs until November 19 or longer if residents are interested.  FREE!

 Karaoke with Marty Freese: Sing and dance along to the music of the 60’s. Join us on Saturday, November 8 at 6:45 p.m. NO CHARGE!

 Annual Members’ Meeting: Plan to attend the Annual Meeting to hear about the accomplishments of the past year, to hear the proposed goals for 2009 and to hear the Board election results. Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.

 Ladies Luncheon: The ladies are going to the popular Metropolitan Grill. The cost is only $16.00 per person and that includes the entrée and beverage. Sign up at the front desk for lunch on Tuesday, November 11, 11:30 a.m.

 Vintage Gardeners BBQ and Workshop: Make a wreath or other holiday decorations then enjoy a delicious lunch on the patio. The date is Tuesday, November 11; the time is 10:00 a.m. The cost is $2.00 for VG members.

 November Bingo:  Get ready to win! Join the fun for Bingo on Tuesday, NOVEMBER 18 at 6:30 sharp, card sales start at 6:00 p.m. Good luck!

 New Resident Wine and Cheese Reception: Sunday, November 9 at 2 p.m.

                If all of those events aren’t enough, we also have:
*Romeo Men’s Lunch – The men will go to Old Father Inn on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12; carpool from the Center at 11:30.
*Art With Gabe, Coffee Klatch, BookMobile, Movie Night, Dances and many more activities.
