Our Purpose

Genealogy Society-big.jpg

The primary goal of the Sunflower Genealogy Society (SGS) is to assist members in conducting their genealogical research efforts. The organization provides SGS members with access to online genealogy subscription databases and an extensive library of genealogy books and CDs. Meetings are held each month  at the Sunflower Village Center, and accessible via Zoom. Contact the officers or consult the Sun Catcher for date, time and meeting information for the upcoming month. Each meeting will have a key topic presentation followed by an open discussion and/or a question and answer period. A round-the-table open forum allows members to bring up research problems, new information, new-found web sites, questions, research successes or disappointments and other pertinent information. A business meeting rounds out the session.

Membership Requirements/Fees

SGS meetings are open to all residents of the Sunflower Community that have an interest in genealogy. Our annual fees are $15.00 per family, due in January (used for the purchase of supplies for handouts, genealogy software, database subscription, speaker fees etc.). This fee also allows members access to online and local club databases, mentoring support (either in person or by a private Zoom session) in using the web/major genealogy programs and copies of meeting presentations for the calendar year.
